Winegard's high-performance designs for TV, wireless, and cellular technologies are manufactured in the U.S.A. The company is developing technologies to create “smart hubs” that use cloud services to check on, manage, and control devices in RVs, boats, semi-trucks, and more. The Iowa-based facility totals 410,000 sq. ft. and includes a state-of-the-art testing, validation, and measurement center. Headquartered in Burlington, Iowa, Winegard has locations in Illinois and Indiana.

Winegard Company pioneered the ability to connect Americans across the nation to more than one TV channel at a time in 1953. It all started with John Winegard wanting to watch Harry S. Truman’s speech in Chicago in 1946, but there wasn’t a Yagi antenna that could pull a signal from Chicago to Burlington (nearly 250 miles)... so he invented one. John was able to watch the speech and soon his friends and family wanted the same technology. This led to John designing the first antenna that could capture the signal of more than one broadcast channel. Before, you needed an antenna for every channel you wanted to watch. It also led to starting Winegard Company.

Randy Winegard, son of founder John Winegard, took the helm as CEO in 1977 when his father retired. At the time, Winegard Company was solely invested in designing and manufacturing traditional over-the-air residential TV antennas, mounts, and accessories.

Randy's relentless desire to challenge his leadership team to seek out new opportunities has resulted in the company expanding into the satellite television and commercial 2-way VSAT real-time broadband technologies, while maintaining a focus on terrestrial antenna technologies. This, in turn, has paved the way to new markets, not only in the U.S. but abroad. With the same entrepreneurial spirit as his father, Randy has been the driving force in making Winegard a respected world leader in the antenna industry.

As the inventor of the multi-channel broadcast TV antenna, the company soon expanded to Internet and cellular connectivity, GPS, as well as IoT applications. Today, Winegard enables Americans to connect with content and information in multiple forms and is poised to incorporate the next technological advances such as 5G and ATSC 3.0.

Since John Winegard invented the first multi-channel antenna in 1953, Winegard has been leading the way in the design and manufacture of antenna products. In August 2016, Grant Whipple was named president after a 12-year tenure of increasing responsibility at the company. Grant has played an integral role in Winegard’s growth by successfully contributing to the design, launch, and distribution of more than 20 new antenna solutions.
